The fact that for the last four years I have been riding a singlespeed 29er has, believe it or not, caused a bit of a stir. I'm sure other singlespeeders have encountered the usual light-hearted and generally good-natured banter about riding singlespeed, but this is not what I'm talking about.
While out riding with my children this morning, I was accosted by one of the sub-species who spotted me on my bike and passed the comment "Still haven't got enough money for gears" and proceeds to giggle himself into a frenzy. Actually very funny.
Funny because I was riding a home-built extrabike with Swedish Grandpa Bars and need I say it, 24 gears.....not something a redneck would ever notice.

I am more than a little familiar with the type. Dumb-ass is an utterance I make a lot these days.
